MATTHEW’S & DASILVA: WI WICKETS PERSONALITIES OF THE MONTH!

West Indies Women’s all-rounder Hayley Matthews and Men’s
wicket-keeper batsman Joshua DaSilva are our chosen WI
Wickets Personalities of the month. As such they have been duly
placed in the respective left and right corners of this Issue’s cover
page top banner.

Matthew’s outstanding all
round skills with both bat
and ball played a major role
it the West Indies Women’s
3-0 ODI Series win against
the visiting Pakistan Women.
Matthews compiled 132
runs from 3 innings batted to
emerge as the West Indies
second-highest run-scorer
behind Deandra Dottin’s
three-match aggregate of 170.

Matthews’ recorded scores of 57, 26
and 49 in the three innings she batted during the Series. Her 132
runs Series tally was also punctuated by 18 boundaries.
Matthews was also the West Indies’ highest wicket-taker with 7
wickets captured at an average of 14.00 with a 3.37 economy rate.
Her 7 wickets tally also included a career-best 4/26 in the second of
the three matches played.

For his part Joshua DaSilva was by far the most outstanding player
for the West Indies in its recently completed 1St Test against Sri
Lanka which the visitors lost by 186 runs, DaSilva faced 94 balls in
his defiant first innings score of 15.

His resistance during the West Indies second innings was even greater. He scored 54 off of 129
balls to help the West Indies recover from its very perilous position
of 18-6 to a far more respectable 160 all out. In combination with
Nkrumah Bonner, he posted a 100 wicket partnership for the
seventh wicket which briefly raised hopes of a salvaged draw for the
West Indies.
