Successive 60+ plus scores in each of the three matches of the most
recent West Indies-India T20I Series has signalled a most welcome
return to form for Nicholas Pooran. Batting at number three in the
order, Pooran registered scores of 61 (43) in the First T20I, 62 (41) in
the second and ^1(47) again in the third. His overall strike rate for the
three innings batted was an impressive 140.45. He also struck 17 fours
and 9 sixes.
Pooran’s 61 in the first T20I was at the time his sixth overall, That
innings had also continued his recent impeccable record in
the T20 format in India, where his overall average has been
around 74.5 with a strike rate of approximately 173.25.
Ever the team man, Pooran as the vice-captain had also
featured in significant batting partnerships in each of the
three matches of the Series. He added 45 vital runs with
Akeal Hosein (10) in a seventh-wicket partnership during
the first T20I, combined with Rovman Powell (68) for an
even 100 run third-wicket partnership in the second and
featured again in a 48 run partnership with Royston
Chase (12) during the third.
