BCA Secures 5-Month UK Club Stint For Aaliyah Williams!

The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) recently announced that former Coleridge Parry
student and National Junior female cricketer Miss Aaliyah Williams was scheduled to depart Barbados on April 21, 2022 for a 5-month stint with the United Kingdom’s Highton St, Mary’s Cricket
Club. The BCA is extremely pleased to have provided assistance to Ms.Williams who will indeed benefit from this opportunity.

Prior to her overseas departure to the United Kingdom, Williams in an interview with BCA Marketing Officer Shari Ross said: “I am eager to play in English conditions and to experience their
cultures and styles of training and playing. I want to give my best to win
titles for my club, gain more skills and develop long term relationships
with other cricketers. Going overseas to play cricket has become something I love. I am
happy to have yet another opportunity to do so in the UK where I
can better my knowledge and skills and hopefully when I return home
I can share those experiences and the knowledge gained with my
teammates.”

Born into a family of athletes, Aaliyah started playing cricket when
she was at Welches Primary School where she also played football
and netball and represented the school at NAPSAC. She continued playing football at Coleridge and Parry School where she also participated in track and field, but there was no girls’ cricket
team and she was called to the Senior National Women’s Football
team. It was while playing football that Aaliyah was spotted by Alfred
Campbell who encouraged her to try out for a cricket team.
Aaliyah trained for about four months and her skills and talent in the
game gained her a call to the Barbados National under-19 cricket
team.

The  BCA has also announced a new and exciting three (3) year partnership with SigniaGlobe
Financial Inc. The beneficiaries of the three year, 2022-2024, deal will be the talented group of cricketers who represent the Barbados Youths Elites and Division One Teams who will
be part of the BCA’s upcoming domestic season.

The SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth teams will compete
in Zones A and B of the BCA’s T20 Cup Competition.
