Two Barbadian’s Kycia Knight and Kyle Mayers
have been selected as WI Wickets’ June Issue
Cover Personalities. Knight was awarded the honour as a result of
her outstanding performances
for Barbados during the recently
concluded Caribbean 2022
Women’s Regional Super60
Championships. Mayer’s earned
his award for having topped both
the West Indies batting and bowling averages at the conclusion
of its tw0-match Home Test Series against Bangladesh.
Knight was the star performer in the Barbados Women’s
successful run chase in the Guyana hosted Super50 regional
Championship Final. Chasing a DLS affected victory target of 120
runs set by Jamaica, Knight and captain Hayley Matthews added
56 for the first wicket in 11.4 overs.
Kyle Mayers’ fashioned a welcome return to form to emerge
as the West Indies leading batsman at the conclusion of its two
Tests Home Series against the visiting Bangladesh. Mayers had
both runs and best average among all the West Indian batsmen
for the Series!
Mayers ended the Series with
an ultra-impressive batting
average of 76.50. He scored
153 runs in his two innings
batted, his highest score
of which was a superlative
146 in the West Indies first
innings of the second Test.
Mayers was also top of
the West Indies Bowling
Averages for the Series, marginally ahead of seamers Alzharri
Joseph and Kemar Roach. Mayers’ six wickets were captured at
an average of 16.00.
