ZAMAL HUSSAIN TRUST YOUTH CRICKET FUNDING!
Twenty four youths from across the ancient county of Berbice will shortly receive cricket gears when
the BCB launches the Zamal HussainTrust fund. BCB President Hilbert Foster met recently with the Vice
Chairman of Region Six at the Port Mourant ground and Mr Hussain readily agreed to host the fund at the
cost of one million dollars. Mr Foster expressed thanks to Mr Hussain and stated that Berbice cricket will
see massive development over the next four months. The Vice Chairman hailed the development under
the presidency of Mr Foster and pledged his support. Each player will receive a bat, batting gloves and
batting pads.
DR. TULSI DYAL SPONSORED YOUTH CLINIC
The BCB recently hosted a seven-hour cricket development clinic at the Cotton Tree Cricket Ground
for youths in the West Berbice area. The clinic was led by five coaches headed by Winston Smith and
was attended by over fifty youths who were very attentive and keen to learn. BCB President Hilbert Foster
attended the clinic and congratulated WBCA President David Black and his team on a job well done. Mr
Foster urged the youths to grasp as much knowledge as possible and to put into practice what they have
learn. He pledged on behalf of his board. that he will work very hard to make sure that every talent in the
county is fulfilled. He also urged the youths to place special emphasis on an educational background
as it was the key to a successful future. The coaches placed emphasis on improving the all-round game
of every player and sharing ideas on physical fitness and the mental aspect of the game. The clinic was
sponsored by Dr Tulsi Dyal Singh of the USA.
UPPER CORENTYNE CLINICS
Another development programme in the Upper Corentyne area as the BCB hosted a one-day
cricket clinic for forty youths at the No 72 ground. Several coaches including Leslie Solomon, Floyd
Benjamin and Bhim Ramkissoon spent over six hours with the youths. The Upper Corentyne Cricket
Association fully deserves to be congratulated for a job well done The BCB also plans to expand its
development programme in the area.
BCB UNIVERSITY OF GUYANA WALL OF FAME IN THE MAKING!
Preparation work for the setting up of the BCB/University of Guyana Wall of Fame continues with the
collection of the photo frames. Thirty players from the county will be on the wall-having represented
the West Indies at the senior level. Those include Rohan Kanhai, Basil Butcher and Alvin Kallicharran.
BCB President Hilbert Foster is personally spearheading the project which would be set up at the Tain
Campus.
ANOTHER HETMEYER MAKING WAVES!
A special man of the finals performance from the highly talented Adrian Hartmeyer. He spearheaded his
team Rose Hall Canje Arborsmart to victory over Rose Hall Town in the finals of the BCB RL Contracting Ltd
Under fifteen tournament at the AreaH ground.
Hartmeyer scored a brilliant century 109 as his team amassed 190 for six off their allotted forty overs. In
response, the home team scored 111 with national Under 13 player Raffel McKenzie hitting 35. Hetmyer
returned with the ball to take four wickets.
A total of one hundred and five thousand dollars in prizes was shared out at the tournament’s conclusion.
