Wickets December Darts!

This month’s December Issue features only
two darts as a departure from the customary three.
The quantitative reduction is, however, sufficiently
compensated by the quality of both darts which justifiably thrown directly at West Indies Selection
Panel Chairman Desmond Haynes and CWI’s
Commercial Director Dominic Warne can both
only be described as mega!

Haynes’s dart is received as a direct
result of his self-admitted unacceptable
mediocre communication with at least two West
Indies senior players Darren Bravo and Jermaine
Blackwood. As Selection Chair Haynes failed
to communicate directly with Bravo by way of
offering him an explanation for his controversial
omission from the West Indies ODI squad for the
December Hone Series against England. As he
should rightfully have done before the squad
was announced and Bravo’s non-inclusion made
public.

Having not learned anything at all from
the public uproar that ensured, Haynes was
again at his direct communication
worst in providing almost identical treatment
to Jermaine Blackwood who was not included
in the announced West Indies fifteen-member
squad for its 2024 Test tour to Australia.
Haynes’ subsequent public admission of owing
Blackwood a call was far more of a confirmation
of his misdemeanour than it was evidence of any
self-realization of their existence.

Not for the first time in his tenure as
West Indies Commercial and Marketing Director,
Dominic Warne’s department boldly announced
during December month the availability of West
Indies team shirts for fans to purchase at ultra-exorbitant and
unaffordable pricing. US$80-$90 was the Warneled
Department’s announced pricing. Amounts
that would indisputably be out of the affordable
reach of the greater majority of Caribbeanbased
West Indies cricket team fans
