Wickets March 2024 Laurels & Darts!

MARCH 2024 LAURELS:

Five well deserving laurels awards in
this Wickets March 2024 Issue.
Only two darts found worth of being thrown.

Sir Andy Roberts for taking time from
his always busy daily schedule to watch the
young, ninteteen-year-old aspiring pacer
Isai Thorne perform at the Coolidge
Cricket Ground during the Guyana Harpy
Eagle match against the Barbados Pride.

More importantly, Sir Andy also took the time
necessary to have a lengthy chat with the
young pace prodigy. Thanks ever so much
for your provided “giving back” service Sir.

Sir Charles Griffith for being awarded with
a Barbados Kensington Oval statue. Right next to
his 1960s West Indies captain Sir Garfield Sobers and
fast bowling teammates Sir Wes Hall. Well deserved
Sir Charles!

Former West Indies Test and ODI
captain, Jason Holder for his 2024 season recruitment
by England’s Worcestershire County. Holder’s
involvement in this year’s County Championship
should provide him with ideal preparation for his anticipated participation as a key member of the
West Indies team during its scheduled three Test
series against England this coming July.

Way To Go Jase!

Cricket West Indies for finally announcing
the completion of its long-awaited new four-year
Strategic Plans. Cricket fans and followers of West
Indies cricket will now anxiously await the public
dissemination of the plan’s contents and associated
strategic initiatives!

Berbice Cricket Boards for inviting Sir
Curtly Ambrose to revist the County for a second
time to conduct coaching clinics for aspiring youth
cricketers. Brilliant follow-up initiative from arguably
Caribbean cricket’s most dynamic Board!

MARCH 2024 DARTS:

To seasoned, veteran, seamer
Kemar Roach for conduct most unbecoming of a
cricketer of his international stature. To the
shock of thousands of viewers on Cricket
West Indies live-streamed coverage of the
Guyana Harpy Eagles – Barbados Pride 2024
4day Championship fourth round encounter
Roach blatantly pelted a delivery at his
fellow West Indies teammate Veerasammy
Permaul!

Roach’s wholly reprehensible action
caught the immediate attention of the
two officiating on-field umpires and their
issuance of a very strong warning, He should
have received a much greater punishment,
Shame on you Kemar!

Some, thankfully not all, of Cricket
West Indies’ 2024 Four-Day Championships
commentators for demonstrated mediocrity
in the performance of their duties. Repeated
mispronunciations of players’ names and
common words have unfortunately been far
too often the order of the day.

“Strenk” and “Lenk” instead of strength and length being
one of the many infractions!
