Dottin, Powell WI Wickets February 2022 Personalities!

Deandra Dottin and Rovman Powell are this WI Wickets, February 2022
Issue’s respective Female and Male Personalities of the month. Both have
been chosen as a result of their recent outstanding batting exploits.

Deandra Dottin dominated a sensational one-over eliminator to hand West
Indies Women victory, after their run-chase ended in a dramatic tie in their
January 31, 2022, ODI encounter against South Africa. Both teams had seen their
innings scores tied at 161 in a contest reduced to 41 overs per side due to rain.
Once in the super-over, Dottin stamped her authority, plundering 19 runs from
the first five balls to leave the visitors defending 25 runs. Facing a tall order, South
Africa Women gathered 15 from the first four balls but ultimately fell short of
their target.

Just three days prior Dottin had slammed
a magnificent career-best century as the
highlight of the January 28 opening ODI
against South Africa Women. Dottin had
taken centre stage, unveiling an innings of
the highest quality to complete her third
ODI hundred and her second in three
months. She faced 158 balls and hit 18 fours
and four sixes, posting the highest-ever
score by a West Indies Women’s player
against Proteas Women. She reached her
half-century off 68 balls off the fifth ball of
the 21st over.

Dottin then cruised to her century reaching her landmark off the first ball of the
33rd over. Her 18th four took Dottin to 150 in the 46th over before the rains
arrived.

Powell for his part posted an average of 47,50 from his three innings batted in
the West Indies recent losing three match T20 I Series against India. Powell’s runs
were scored at an ultra impressive
strike rate of 179.24 and included an
unbeaten innings of 68 in the second
T20I.

Just weeks before the right-handed
Powell had made 107 off 53 balls to
help the West Indies win the third of
five T20I’s against England. Jamaican
raced to his half century off 31 balls,
reaching the landmark with a six
over cover in the 14th over before
reaching his hundred off another 20
deliveries in the penultimate over,
with a couple behind square. He’d
motored into the 90s by taking 19
runs in the 18th over before joining
Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis as West
Indies players with a T20I century.
