Indoor Facility To Be The Focus For Conde Riley’s Fourth Terms BCA Presidency!

Elected as Barbados Cricket Association
President for a fourth term, Conde Riley
has indicated that the construction of
a world class indoor cricket facility will
be the primary objective of what could well be
his final head honcho stint.
Riley was re-elected for a
fourth term after winning
a tight election during the
BCA’s August 14, 2023, Annual
General Meeting.

Riley narrowly edged challenger
and vice-president
Calvin Hope 75-72 in a
tightly contested election.
Gregory Nicholls, the
third nominee, received 37
votes.

“I’m happy. I’ve been here
for a number of years. This
is my fourth term. We have
a number of youngsters on
scholarships overseas doing
A levels, O levels as well as
playing cricket so I’m happy,”
Riley told SportsMax.tv
a week after his re-election.
Riley’s main plan while serving
his fourth term is to bring
a world class indoor facility
to Barbados.

“The major thing is the indoor
facilities which we have thought about building since 2005. We need the
money. There’s about $20 million owed by Caribbean
Governments to the West Indies so, once we get some
of that money, that’s the one I want to complete,” Riley
said.

“I want to do it so no matter the weather or time of day
clubs and schools can have indoor facilities to train,” Riley
added. Riley says he hopes to complete this venture in the next
two years.

“I’ve already sourced the names and cameras and so
on, I want to a very modern indoor facility here, hopefully
within the next two years,” Riley said.

Riley is a retired Investment and Trustee Banker who
worked in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and the United
Kingdom for one of the World’s largest banks. He was
elected to the BCA’S Board in 1996 and except for one
year has served Barbados’s cricket for the past 21 years.

He was also elected as a Director of the West Indies
Cricket Board (WICB) in 2006 and has served as a member
of the Finance, Pension and Provident Fund, Cricket
Development and Human Resource Development Committees.
Riley was appointed by Cricket West Indies (CWI)
as Chairman of the Human Resource Committee on July
1st this year for a 2-year period.

Condé was the Event Manager for the Barbados
leg of the ICC T20 World Cup 2010 which hosted
the Final of that Tournament. He had responsibility
for cricket operations, logistics, security and
entertainment. His team was complimented for
an efficient and incident free leg.

In 2014 Condé was appointed by CWI as one
of its 3 Directors on the 6 member Cricket Tournament
Committee of the Caribbean Premier
League, which has responsibility for the integrity
of the League.

In December 2020 Conde Rile received the Gold
Crown of Merit, for his contribution to the game.
It was presented by Governor-General Dame
Sandra Mason, at the independence ceremony
. In December 2019, he was made an Officer of
the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s 2020 New
