When the West Indies Selectors
announce the fourteen-member
squad to face India in this year’s
Dominica-hosted July 12-16 First Test, Kevin
Sinclair’s name will now be fully expected to
be among those named. Sinclair was by far the
most impressive all-round performer during
the West Indies A Team’s recently completed
three Tests tour to Bangladesh.
Sinclair ended the tour with the third highest
average from among the West Indies batsmen,
His 49.66 tour average was behind only
those of skipper Joshua DaSilva (11) and Test
Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul (68.78)

At Team Tour returns with the bat were 149
runs scored from four innings. As a bowler
the wily, Guyana-born, off-spinner also took
13 wickets during the series. His scalps were
captured at an outstanding 25.69 average and
with a measly 3.27 economy rate. Sinclair’s
returns also included one five-wicket (5/79)
haul.
Born November 23, 1999, the 23-year-old
Sinclair has been knocking on the door for Test
team selection ever since his made his West
Indies ODI debut against New Zealand in last
August 2022. To date Sinclair has captured 54
wickets in the 18 First Class matches he has
played.
As a batsman Sinclair’s 756 runs from 3o completed innings have been scored at an average of 29.07.
His knocks have so far also included 6 half centuries.
Sinclair’s match-haul of 7 for 123, backed up by important runs in both innings from skipper Josh
DaSilva helped West Indies A win the second, unofficial Test against Bangladesh A by three wickets
in Sylhet. The win gave the West Indies a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. It was also enough ti
eventually secure the overall series victory after both the first and third Tests were drawn.
Offspinner Sinclair was Player of the Match for his seven wickets, which included a five-wicket haul in
the second innings. He also took two wickets in the first innings.
