Wickets May 2024 Laurels & Darts!

A full slate of five Laurels for this Wickets May Issue and most thankfully only two darts. Highly deserving
laurels are being presented to KemarRoach, Jason Holder,, Jayden Seales, Cricket West Indies and Sunil Narine. The
two equally deserving darts have been duly thrown at the ICC’s T20 World Cup Ticketing Committee and as
well at West Indies whiteball cricket Head Coach Daren Sammy.

MAY 2024 LAURELS:

18 wickets at an overly impressive
average of 25.77 and miserly economy rate
of 3.04. Those have been the veteran West
Indes seamer Kemar Roach’s statistics
to date for Surrey in this year’s English
County Championship Division 1. Roach’s
outstanding returns, the third best overall for
the county, included a May 12 6/46 against
Warwickshire.

A century coupled with nine captured wickets have been the highlights of Jason Holder’s season for Worcestershire at this year’s 2024
English County Championships. A recent injury has
since, however, rued Holder out of participation at
the forthcoming Caribbean hsted T20 World Cup.
His participation in the West Indies three Tests tour
to England this coming July might also now be in
jeopardy.

Trinidad & Tobago’s returning seamer
Jayden Seales for becoming the 159th Sussex
player to be awarded their County Cap. Seales
was presented with is cap on May 17 during Surrey’s
English County Championship match against
Yorkshire.

The West Indian seamer made
a spectacular start to his first
season at Surrey, so far taking 23
wickets at an average of 21.80
including two five-wicket hauls.

Cricket West Indies
for the early May month
announcement of its 2024 home
fixtures. The much clamored
for early announcement of all
international matches to be
played within the region for
the remainder of ths year, will
be a most welcomed boost to
Caribbean cricket tourism as
it will allow fans from both within the
region and further abroad to
plan their attendance at staged
matches. Well Done CWI!

Trinidad & Tobago’s
legendary mystery-man
offspinner Sunil Narine, for
capturing the Indian Premier League Player of the Season Award for an
unprecedented third time. Narine captured 17
wickets at an economy rate of 9.27 and 31.44
average. He was even more outstanding with the
bat as the championship title winners Kolkata Knight
Riders opening batter. Narine sored 488 uns from 15
matches at an incredible strike rate of 180.74

MAY 2024 DARTS:

West Indies T20 Head Coach Daren Sammy for having missed a trick by
not including the legendary veteran former
West Indies T20 specialist all-rounder Dwayne
Bravo among his World Cup coaching
cadre. Bravo’s legendary knowledge
and experience in the art of T20 death
overs bowling would have been a much
needed boost to the West Indies World Cup
campaign. As great a failing that aspect of
their T20 performances have been of late.
Bravo’s virtues have instead been snapped
up by the seemingly more appreciative
Afghanistans with his addittion to thier
T20 World Cup team management as an
Assistant Bowling Coach. Shame on you
Sammy!

The ICC’s 2024 T20 World Cup Ticketing
Committee should now be most deservedly
lambasted for having engaged in unacceptable
price gouging for Barbados Party Stand tickets at
this year’s forthcoming tournament. Not only was the
price doubled from Bds$100 to $200 for the England-
Australia and Super 8 matches but the acquisition
policy also included the stipulated requirement for
Party Stand tickets to be purchased for at least two
matches! Gouging epitomized!
